About

Lea Siegel, raised in Seattle, studied art, art history, textiles and costume history at the University of Washington. Her introduction to the fashion business began with her first job in a photography studio there, where she began assisting in prop styling for still-life shots. When the shot called for a model, Lea found herself also assisting in wardrobe, and consequently, with makeup. Needing more guidance in order to better assist in makeup, Lea enrolled herself in a makeup artistry class and found her true passion. Lea found herself working exceptionally well with her first client, Generra. She found a rhythm and dynamic with them that was effortless and inspiring. Lea packed her bags and move to New York to find and work with proven and experienced photographers. She began working with Bob Richardson in the 90’s as his work began to come around again into the spotlight: “When we worked on a story it was like a little movie. He always stressed the importance of believing in your work. I love the process of photography; the vision of a photographer or art director is realized by a team of hair and makeup artists, set designer, stylist and model. When the chemistry is good it never feels like work.” Lea Siegel, naturally, has been a success in the business ever since.
