Alexis Mabille delivered a collection for Spring/Summer 2024 that catered to his customers' desires for jewel-toned eveningwear, timeless glamour, and his distinctive design sensibility. This expanded capsule collection featured ready-to-wear variations of his couture creations presented earlier in the year.
Mabille's vision for this collection was to create pieces that would stand the test of time, accompanying the wearer for a decade or more. He aimed to ensure that the wearer, not the dress, would be the center of attention, whether she was on the red carpet or the dance floor, wearing stilettos or Docs.
Several of Mabille's signature elements were on display in this collection, including smoking jackets and bow details, often combined with satin and crepe fabrics. For example, he designed an emerald green satin gown with open sides and a cinched waist, as well as a simple black sheath dress adorned with oversized bows on the shoulders. The collection also featured bolero jackets with gilded embroideries, floral elements through prints and lace, and playful subversions of shirt and jacket details.
Mabille's designs included regal purple gowns with buttoned collars pulled backward over the head to accentuate the bust and draped across the shoulders. Voluminous satin shirtdresses with Watteau-pleated backs were versatile pieces that could serve as opera jackets or be worn open with jeans for a more casual look.
One of Mabille's key concepts in recent seasons has been adaptability, ensuring that each creation can offer retailers something unique, adding an extra layer of exclusivity for his diverse clientele.
