Charaf Tajer, the visionary founder and creative director of Casablanca, transported audiences on a mesmerizing journey through time with the Fall Winter 2024-2025 collection. Backstage, Tajer elucidated that this collection served as an homage to ancient Greece and the profound influence it continues to exert on contemporary society, spanning realms as diverse as architecture, philosophy, mathematics, and even psychedelics.

Delving into the obscure depths of history, Tajer uncovered the enigmatic allure of Eleusis, an ancient city near Athens that once served as a clandestine sanctuary for sacred initiations. Here, amidst the whispers of mythical minds like Cicero, a secretive cult partook in rituals involving a potent concoction infused with hallucinogenic fungi—a precursor to the modern-day LSD experience.

Psychedelics, a recurring motif in Casablanca's artistic lexicon, once again took center stage, intertwining seamlessly with the brand's idealistic and psychedelic identity. Within the hallowed confines of the Cirque d’Hiver, chosen for its amphitheater-like ambiance, spectators were transported to a mystical beach at sundown, where rows of performers, orchestrated by Sadeck Berrabah, mesmerized with their hypnotic choreography evoking the ebb and flow of waves.

Amidst this ethereal backdrop, the collection unfurled like a tapestry of archetypes reimagined through a contemporary lens. Statuesque drapery metamorphosed into form-fitting dresses with daring slits, while suiting underwent a transformative evolution, cinched at the waist to accentuate the feminine silhouette. Retro sportswear received a sleek and sophisticated makeover, marrying nostalgia with modernity in a harmonious synthesis.

The gradient blue treatment that cascaded across coats and coordinated ensembles captivated with its understated elegance, offering a serene counterpoint to the flamboyant foil and quilted silver pieces that dazzled with their opulent extravagance. Playful yet chic, hybrid wrestler belt-cummerbunds adorned with the year 2024 added a touch of whimsy, while letterman jackets embellished with patchwork motifs and Cicero quotes, a collaboration with Jeff Hamilton, stole the spotlight with their irreverent charm.

Tajer's astute choice of the show's title, "Venus as a Boy," a subtle nod to the iconic Björk track, encapsulated the brand's enduring ethos of celebrating beauty in all its forms. With equal aplomb, Casablanca navigated the realms of menswear and womenswear, infusing each with an irresistible allure that transcended traditional boundaries. From lustrous corsets to ancient Greek-inspired sandals, every detail spoke to Tajer's profound understanding of cultural nuances and his unwavering commitment to crafting collections that resonate on both aesthetic and intellectual levels.
