CELINE's Spring Summer 2024 collection, aptly named "Tomboy," is a delightful portrayal of youth and vintage charm, perfectly capturing the spirit of carefree spring days. Hedi Slimane, known for his keen sense of style, brilliantly encapsulates the essence of young students at l'université, capturing the magic of their everyday lives.

The collection was unveiled against the stunning backdrop of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, one of the country's oldest cultural institutions, adding an air of history and timelessness to the modern designs. Slimane's choice to shoot the collection in this iconic library is a stroke of genius, as it brings together the old and the new in a harmonious blend.

The models exuded youthful energy as they strutted past rows of desks, alongside artistic treasures, and through the library's book-lined halls. The contrast between the scholarly setting and the edgy, stylish ensembles worn by the models was a captivating juxtaposition.

Footwear played a prominent role, featuring knee-high cowboy boots, chunky-soled lace-ups, sneakers, and shearling booties. The accompanying soundtrack, an extended version of "Too Much Love" by LCD Soundsystem, added an extra layer of coolness to the show.

One of the standout features of the collection was the use of leather headphones, which were part of a collaboration between Celine and Master & Dynamic. These headphones, combined with sunglasses, lent an air of nonchalant elegance to the models, hinting at the possibility of late-night revelry.

The new Victoire bag, with its rectangular shape and chain handle adorned with the heritage Triomphe logo, was a star accessory. It perfectly complemented the collection's overall aesthetic.

Hedi Slimane's design philosophy has always been characterized by a cool and collected demeanor, a style he has masterfully honed since the '90s. This collection was no exception, with roomy tailored jackets, boxy cropped jackets, flared jeans, and daringly short miniskirts.

The collection featured a delightful vintage twist, with pleated and plaid pieces and a memorable leopard print outfit with a matching tailored jacket. The vintage theme extended to a cream slipdress with a crochet top, a fuzzy leopard print coat, diaphanous lacy blouses, and corset-style tops. These delicate pieces were paired with jeans or layered under shrunken chubbies and tracksuit tops, demonstrating the versatility and creativity of the designer.

Hedi Slimane's signature couture touch was evident in the handcrafted embroidered bustier dress, which glistened with thousands of sequins, resembling a golden sunburst. Similarly, a metallic mesh minidress was created using crochet and embroidery techniques, showcasing the artistry and craftsmanship behind each piece. These couture elements were expertly paired with an oversized black leather bomber and tall boots, though these ensembles may remain more aspirational than practical for most students.
