Ermanno Scervino Spring Summer 2024 collection fashion show at Milano Fashion Week SS24 (September 23, 2023).

Ermanno Scervino's Spring Summer 2024 show unfolded in the grand baroque cloister of a 15th-century hospital, now a state university building, and it was nothing short of a love letter to craftsmanship, marking one of his most remarkable collections to date.

Known for his couturier's touch, Scervino consistently strives to translate his exquisite designs into versatile, everyday clothing that transcends generations. His vision revolves around ensuring that jackets, for instance, can be worn in myriad ways, allowing mothers, daughters, and grandmothers to embrace variations of the same style.

In previous seasons, Scervino's collections occasionally leaned towards excessive sensuality or theatricality. However, this time, his work hit the perfect note, with dresses and skirts so delicate they seemed to be stitched from the very fabric of clouds.

While transparent fabrics have dominated Milan's runways, Scervino chose to deviate from the norm of fishnet, tulle, and stocking knits. Instead, he embraced the elegance of breezy cotton and organza.

His runway featured a procession of white, ethereal gowns with plissé detailing around the bodice, alongside long bohemian skirts adorned with strips of intricate lace. Shirt dresses boasting geometric embroidery and mini dresses adorned with fluttery ruffles graced the collection.

Scervino's craftsmanship extended to flower making, with cascades of white organza flower blossoms adorning sheer minidresses and pink blooms enhancing a strapless gown. Pink bougainvillea petals embellished chunky, homespun-looking cotton cardigans, while clusters of flowers tumbled down the fronts and backs of leather or suede car coats, jackets, and even a summer-weight parka.

Adding a touch of opulence to his gentle pastel palette, Scervino introduced pops of gold through jackets and strapless dresses featuring a basket-style weave, echoing the beachy bucket bags carried by some models.

This show undoubtedly marked one of Scervino's most outstanding presentations, but the designer remained humble, taking in the lavish surroundings and remarking, "Let's see if I can live up to all of this," as he embraced the opportunity to showcase his incredible talent.
