Etro Spring Summer 2024 Men Fashion Show

At the recent Etro Spring Summer 2024 Men's Collection fashion show, designer Marco de Vincenzo presented a captivating response to this demand, drawing inspiration from allegorical images found in an antique book and infusing the collection with enigmatic motifs and balanced intensity.

During a visit to an old bookstore in his Sicilian hometown, de Vincenzo stumbled upon a 17th-century tome filled with allegorical images depicting vices and virtues. These figures, which aimed to convey hidden meanings through visual representation, sparked a connection in the designer's mind between these historical images and contemporary forms of non-verbal communication, such as TikTok, memes, and GIFs. This intuitive approach became the guiding principle behind the Etro collection.

The collection showcased roomy, boxy, short-sleeved bowling shirts that featured jacquarded panels displaying allegorical concepts like Temperance, Tenacity, Eternity, and Lust. These shirts, printed in soft-toned hues, were paired with loose pants in subdued solid colors, creating an ensemble that emphasized fluidity and a sense of balance. De Vincenzo aimed to create shapes that barely touched the body, resulting in oversize-cut blazers with soft-jutting shoulders, worn alongside wide and comfortable pajama trousers or shorts.

In a departure from rigid construction, Etro's Spring Summer 2024 collection embraced a more relaxed and free-spirited aesthetic. Long robe-dusters, reminiscent of the brand's bohemian and eccentric nature, featured tapestry-inspired printed patterns scaled down in size and color, conveying a cool domesticity. Notably, a shirt/shorts combination stood out with finely beaded geometric motifs in shades of green, adding a touch of vibrancy to the collection.

Towards the end of the show, Etro injected a burst of vitality and flash with a series of fringed capes and coats. These statement pieces, made from thick vintage blankets woven with abstract floral patterns, struck a delicate balance between the artisanal and the extravagant. With their eye-catching design, these fringed capes and coats are sure to captivate attention and become showstoppers.
