Fashion East Spring Summer 2024 Fashion Show

Fashion East Spring Summer 2024 collection fashion show at London Fashion Week SS24 (September 15, 2023).

In a London fashion landscape where subversive underground creativity seemed to have waned, emerging designers Olly Shinder, Michael Stewart, and Johanna Parv showcased their distinct visions at Lulu Kennedy's Fashion East show. Olly Shinder drew inspiration from queer culture and subcultural communities, capturing the essence of London's contemporary nightlife. His collection fused elements of his Jewish and German heritage with homoerotic clothing archetypes, resulting in a fantasy-infused workwear aesthetic.

Michael Stewart's collection, titled "Standing Ground," was inspired by the standing stones and landscapes of Ireland, with a focus on geology and prehistoric history. He intricately embedded beads between layers of jersey, creating sinuously elongated silhouettes that exuded a sense of sensuality. Stewart's collection, named "Tethys," delved into the fascinating geological makeup of ancient Ireland.

Johanna Parv presented a unique take on athletic wear, designed for a decarbonizing world where cycling and functionality take precedence. Her creations seamlessly blended action-oriented features with a fashion-forward sensibility. Parv's technical fabric suits were tailored to cool the body and featured silicone shoulder patches to prevent bags from slipping off shoulders. She innovatively incorporated "tunnels" in shorts for hands-free storage, reminiscent of historical fashion elements like panniers and bustles. Her work, reminiscent of Helmut Lang's '90s urban design, stood out for its forward-looking approach in the fashion landscape.
