GmbH's Spring Summer 2024 collection, aptly named "Kurban" after the Turkish word for sacrifice, drew inspiration from spiritual themes, reflecting the Latin origin of "sacer," meaning holy. Designers Benjamin Huseby and Serhat Isik aimed to utilize fashion as a protective tool, considering the sacrificial nature of the fashion industry itself. This collection was born out of a challenging period for the duo and sought to offer a shield against unforeseen circumstances.
Despite the predominantly black and white color palette, there was an absence of darkness in the collection. According to the designers, these hues resonate with their community and represent their preferred colors. The collection showcased a dynamic interplay between cutouts and couture volumes, drapes and capes, creating a visually diverse range of garments. Arabic letters adorned shirts and dresses, conveying protective spells, phrases like "safe from harm," and references to both contemporary and traditional rituals—a significant aspect of the collection's narrative.
In terms of accessories, the collection featured over-knee boots crafted from transparent organza, a carryover from their menswear line. Mules were reimagined from cowboy boots, featuring open backs and constructed from black vegan leather or adorned with faux feathers. True to their commitment to sustainability, the brand refrains from using real leather, opting instead for recycled synthetic water-based materials and innovative sources like apple waste in their bags.
