Iceberg Spring Summer 2024 Fashion Show

Iceberg Spring Summer 2024 collection fashion show at Milano Fashion Week SS24 (September 20, 2023).

Iceberg, with its almost four-decade legacy, has consistently served as a blank canvas for a diverse range of designers. Over the years, its heritage has been reimagined in artistic and edgy ways, evolving with the times.

Eight years ago, James Long, the British talent at the helm, took the reins and began shaping his unique vision, infusing the brand with a fusion of sportswear and raver aesthetics. Recently, his creative journey seems to have been on an accelerator, particularly in the realm of the latter.

Building on the vibe of the previous season, Long drew inspiration from old brand campaigns, including a memorable 2010 campaign by photography duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, featuring Carolyn Murphy in a striking snakeskin-printed frock with front pockets.

This visual memory served as the cornerstone for Long's Spring 2024 collection, characterized by the prominence of the biker jacket, reimagined in faux snakeskin and faux leather. These iconic jackets were deconstructed and transformed into avant-garde harnesses, layered over pristine shirts, or patchworked into overcoats with a blend of materials. Some even metamorphosed into full-skirted trenchcoats with captivating python panels. These audacious pieces were paired with barely-there miniskirts, faux leather pants adorned with zippers tracing the contours of the legs, and crisscross tops that pushed the boundaries of exposure.

As the coed show unfolded, James Long's mastery of combining contrasting materials took a softer, more impactful turn. Shiny utilitarian shirts were juxtaposed with matte poplin pants, while cargo-inspired long skirts found harmony with cropped tank tops. Jumpsuits made an appearance, often worn with bralettes, offering a refreshing palette cleanse amidst the avant-garde designs. The collection also featured tuxedo-inspired mixed-media overcoats and suits, occasionally worn by men paired with pleated kilt-like faux leather skirts, showcasing a bold and gender-fluid approach to fashion.

This remarkable show, which also marked the launch of Iceberg's latest fragrance "Be Wonderfully You," demanded an abundance of confidence from its wearers. It encapsulated the ever-evolving journey of a brand that continues to redefine urban artistry and push the boundaries of fashion, making a bold statement in every stitch and ensemble.
