Litkovska Spring Summer 2024 Fashion Show

Litkovska Spring Summer 2024 collection fashion show at Paris Fashion Week SS24 (September 28, 2023).

Lilia Litkovska, the only Ukrainian designer on the Paris Fashion Week schedule, used her collection to convey the values that have emerged from the war in her homeland, such as resilience, courage, and altruism. She aimed to preserve these values and translate them into her fashion pieces.

Her collection, known for its contemporary tailoring, took on a poetic quality. Wheat sheaves, symbolizing Ukraine's significance as a major cereal producer, were used as striking embellishments, appearing on the waistline of minimalist dresses, for example. Raffia strands adorned bags, were worn as charm-like jewelry, and covered one side of a voluminous jacket. Military references were also present, seen in sharply cut trenchcoats and cargo shorts. The blue of Ukraine's flag was featured in sportier looks made from textured fabric. Suit jackets were ripped open down the front, with frayed strips buttoned onto the opposite side for a graphic effect.

The runway show was accompanied by the haunting sound of a lonesome electric guitar, courtesy of multidisciplinary artist Julien Sitruk, who has also photographed Litkovska's recent campaign images. The collection emphasized that fashion can convey a strong political message while maintaining commercial appeal.
