MSGM Spring Summer 2024 Fashion Show

Massimo Giorgetti's Spring Summer 2024 MSGM collection was marked by an eclectic mix of inspirations from design, art, music, and fashion. The runway show was initially planned to be held in the shadow of two Gio Ponti buildings on the Politecnico di Milano campus but had to be relocated due to inclement weather. Nevertheless, the vast white space provided an adequate setting.

The Influence of Design, Art, Music, and Fashion - Giorgetti drew inspiration from various realms closely followed by today's younger generations, and he expressed his delight in their appreciation for design, art galleries, exhibitions, and music. He emphasized that young people are not solely consumed by social media.

Tartan and English Accents - The collection featured bold checks and colorful tartans, reflecting Giorgetti's admiration for the "Tartan" exhibition at the V&A Dundee. Crumpled puffball skirts, waist-cinched jackets, and fringe-edged coats were among the pieces that incorporated these patterns.

Artistic Details - The collection showcased a mix of artistic details, including scribbled rose prints, brush-stroke motifs, and freewheeling appliqués of colorful strips of lace, metal, and thread fringe.

An Eclectic Mix - Giorgetti's collection explored a range of styles, sometimes appearing jarring due to its diversity. It featured elements like a striped rugby polo embroidered with 3D flowers and boxy blazers spray-painted in a DIY fashion.

Punk and Tough-Girl Vibes - The collection exuded a somewhat punk and tough-girl vibe, underscored by a throbbing electro soundtrack that combined tracks like "Warm Leatherette" with a cover of "Kaltes Klares Wasser" by the cult Berlin girl group Chicks on Speed.
