Natasha Zinko's spring collection, titled "Decamp," drew inspiration from the concept of a nomad embarking on an outdoor journey. The collection was a reflection of the world's current environmental and political challenges that require us to be reactive in our actions.
The two main influences behind the collection were an image of a man laden with bags and boxes, symbolizing the need for survival, and a 1778 illustration by Miss Calash, featuring a woman with an expansive folding hood protecting her elaborate hairstyle.
The fashion show took place in London's Soho Square, surrounded by tents of various sizes, emphasizing the outdoor theme. The collection featured oversized pants made from vintage cargo pants, with digitally printed tree trunk and mud graphics on padded nylon puffers. Notably, an oversized log-shaped bag with tree print caught attention for its unique design.
Leather wader-style boots with stiletto heels and motorcycle jacket details added a fashionable twist to the outdoorsy theme. Some looks were inspired by underwear, crafted from heavy stretch cotton and transformed into capri pants, rompers with button-up details on the back, and leather handbags that mirrored the shape of men's Y-fronts.
A standout piece in the collection was a mid-sized ball gown made from waterproof nylon, the same material used in tents. This skirt could transform into a hood, paying homage to the Miss Calash illustration. Overall, Natasha Zinko's "Decamp" collection blended outdoor and survival elements with high fashion, making a statement about the current state of the world.
