Saint Laurent Spring Summer 2024 Fashion Show

Anthony Vaccarello delivered a standout fashion show for Saint Laurent, characterized by a memorable silhouette and an iconic setting beneath the Eiffel Tower, continuing a tradition he's established.

Spring 2024 for Saint Laurent was encapsulated in two words: cotton and stone, both prominent materials in the clothing and the breathtaking marble set erected amid the Champ de Mars.

This collection marked a significant departure from the brand's recent focus on black, sophisticated eveningwear. Instead, the runway was graced by predominantly daytime looks, many of them loose-fitting and adorned in earthy tones, including cargo pants.

Vaccarello aimed to return to the core of Saint Laurent's heritage, revisiting the 1960s creations that included the safari jacket, jumpsuits, and a range of pants. The designer emphasized simplicity for this season, opting for less extravagant materials and a more understated approach.

Cotton sportswear challenged Vaccarello to elevate simple silhouettes using everyday materials. The key to success, he believed, lay in achieving the right proportions. His inspiration came from trailblazing women, such as race car drivers and aviators like Amelia Earhart and Adrienne Bolland, which explained the leather helmets, gloves, and zip-front boiler suits cinched with high-heel slingbacks.

While the materials and silhouettes may have shifted, Vaccarello maintained the icy allure and high polish associated with Saint Laurent. Models sported slicked-back hair, smoky eyes, bold red lips, and accessorized with chunky bangles and earrings.

Saint Laurent's consistent success at Kering was highlighted by its 7 percent organic sales growth in the second quarter of 2023. The brand continues to expand with impressive boutiques, including a massive flagship store under construction on the Champs-Élysées, featuring stone reminiscent of the show's set and plenty of cotton.
