Staud Spring Summer 2024 collection fashion show at New York Fashion Week SS24 (September 10, 2023).

Sarah Staudinger, the innovative Los Angeles designer, made a resounding impact on the fashion industry with her Spring Summer 2024 collection. The collection was unveiled in a vibrant and nostalgic runway extravaganza held at the iconic Plaza hotel. In the company of renowned figures such as her husband, Ari Emanuel, Amazon's visionary founder Jeff Bezos, and art world luminary Jeffrey Deitch, Staudinger orchestrated a remarkable evening that evoked the carefree and stylish spirit of the 1990s.

Sarah Staudinger, the creative force behind the Staud brand, shared her inspiration for the collection, drawing from the 1995 documentary "Catwalk," which chronicled the experiences of supermodel Christy Turlington during Fashion Month, featuring iconic designers like Isaac Mizrahi. Staudinger aimed to capture the same vivacious spirit that Mizrahi and his contemporaries brought to the fashion industry.

For this show, Staudinger gave her models a specific directive: make the audience want to "touch, smell, feel, smile." The essence of the collection was about creating a sensory experience that resonated with authenticity. To achieve this, models were instructed to walk the runway barefoot, emphasizing a sense of groundedness and simplicity.

Staudinger's commitment to individuality and authenticity was evident in her approach to styling. Each model had the freedom to select the outfit that resonated with them the most, ensuring that their personalities shone through on the runway. This personal touch added an extra layer of charm to the show.

Backstage, models expressed their gratitude and appreciation for Staudinger's vision. One model encapsulated the sentiment, thanking the designer for highlighting the qualities that truly matter in the fashion industry.

The collection paid homage to Isaac Mizrahi, evident in the taffeta low-waist ballskirts paired with tanks or cashmere shells, as well as the silk Dupioni column dresses. Beach glamour made a splash with crystal mesh dresses worn over briefs, a black starfish motif crochet dress, sequined trousers, cropped T-shirts, and flower-dotted bikinis. Additionally, Staud's collaboration with Wrangler was evident in the drapey three-piece suits and denim pieces, lending the collection a distinctive California ease.

One notable aspect of the show was its simplicity. Staudinger deliberately avoided spectacle, and every model in the show wore flat shoes, embodying an unfussy, approachable vibe that encapsulated the essence of Staud's Spring Summer 2024 collection.
