In a remarkable fashion event, the fashion community came together to celebrate Giorgia Tordini and Gilda Ambrosio, who, for the first time, showcased their collection from The Attico on a runway. The illustrious guest list included figures like Maximilian Davis from Ferragamo, Sabato De Sarno from Gucci, Jerry Lorenzo, Remo Ruffini, the Caten twins, Francesco Vezzoli, and a host of friends and supporters of the brand. Seated comfortably on '70s leather couches set up along an elegant Milanese street, attendees enjoyed a rare moment of clear sky during a rainy Fashion Week that had forced many bigger brands to cancel their outdoor presentations. It was as if the universe had lent a helping hand to these young designers with grand aspirations but not-so-grand budgets.
Explaining their vision for the collection, the designers stated, “We wanted our collection to happen in the street, which is a sort of cinematic set where people are both stars and voyeurs.” Each look was individually styled, avoiding rigid rules of coherence. The show's progression was not linear; rather, it resembled a free-flowing stream of characters "walking at a fast pace as if in a rush and dressed in haste, a bit undone." Their aim was to capture the real-life essence of a moment, where possibilities are limitless. The only impossibility when adorned in one of The Attico's captivating ensembles is to go unnoticed.
Giorgia and Gilda have come a long way from their beginnings, known for their vintage-inspired, sultry party dresses. Their contemporary women exude a tomboyish coolness and streetwise savvy. In their recent show, these women donned oversized masculine suits or relaxed utilitarian cargo pants, topped with feathered tank tops and bombers adorned with a flurry of exotic plumage—a new breed of free-spirited birds of paradise who will never be confined.
Supersized coats draped like colossal, stealthy scarves, regal cloaks for dark, street-savvy princesses, and protective furry wool stoles for incognito queens of cool graced the runway, layered over the sensuous, shapely, vintage-inflected, diva-esque evening dresses that the designers are renowned for. These glamorous creations featured a medley of fringes, tassels, feathers, marabou pom poms, and crystal drops, miraculously held together by the artistry of invisible threads, as if ready to dissolve into beguiling, nearly ethereal garments. As the audience luxuriated in their soft leather couches, they were spellbound, and even the universe seemed to have succumbed to The Attico's captivating allure.
