Monse Resort 2024 Lookbook

Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia of Monse have consistently tailored their designs to cater to both the professional woman and those who love to revel in a vibrant nightlife. Deconstructed tailoring has remained their signature style since the inception of their label in 2015. Over the past few seasons, they have incorporated elements such as mesh panels, corsets, mini hemlines, cutouts, and leather to infuse a touch of sensuality into their pant suits. This evolution is understandable given the brand's popularity among notable figures like Selena Gomez, Doja Cat, and Rosé from Blackpink, although it is worth noting that their clientele extends beyond professional musicians to include executives.

During a recent showroom appointment discussing their resort 2024 collection, Garcia stated, "We have retained elements for our K-pop enthusiasts, but we are now refocusing on our working clientele with an emphasis on tailored pieces." Kim, with a laugh, unveiled a dark floral evening dress featuring translucent sleeves and a waist cutout, describing it as "the epitome of a working woman's ensemble." Their approach is all about achieving a harmonious equilibrium.

The designers' sense of humor, an element they highly value, is evident in their choice of prints. For this season, they drew inspiration from Dutch Old Masters, crafting floral patterns infused with skeletal motifs. This memento mori theme finds its expression in a silk dress, appearing subtly in the soft wovens. Notably, a knit sweater and dress prominently feature the skeleton motif, adorned with 3D flowers. The question arises: could Phoebe Bridgers, a prominent figure in the world of fashion-forward skeletal aesthetics, be the next celebrity to embrace their designs?

While the collection includes only one classic pantsuit in a refined slate gray, it abounds with appealing options such as blazers, vests, coats, and even a cape. Pleated mini skirts and a highly structured leather mini dress with a cupcake skirt will certainly delight their youthful clientele. Monse has also reintroduced a pair of trousers featuring a corseted, sheer waist – a best-selling item within their repertoire.
