Nanushka Fall Winter 2024-2025 collection lookbook (28 outfits).

For Sandra Sándor, the creative force behind Nanushka, the Fall Winter 2024-2025 collection is a nostalgic voyage back to her formative years in Hungary. Growing up before the fall of the Iron Curtain in 1989, crossing borders was forbidden, and fashion was a distant concept. Sándor's fashion sensibilities were initially shaped by the utilitarian folklore of traditional costumes worn by local rural communities. It wasn't until she discovered fashion magazines from the US that her world expanded. "It was a revelation," she reminisces. "It opened up an entirely new world. I was in love."

The co-ed collection is a tapestry woven from layers of personal memories. "I wanted to delve into the roots of my style; it's the '90s seen through the eyes of a Hungarian teenager," explains Sándor. Her inspirations span from the raw beauty of shepherds' coats crafted from the curly vellum of racka sheep to the midriff-baring tops and leggy minidresses flaunted by supermodels in the pages of Vogue. The sporty zip-up sweaters her father wore for tennis tournaments and the sturdy black leather biker jackets of rider boyfriends also influence her designs. These disparate elements are seamlessly translated into Nanushka's signature utilitarian, minimalist aesthetic, elevated this season by luxurious textures and meticulously crafted surfaces.

Standout pieces in the gender-fluid lineup include voluminous nomadic coats and waistcoats in white faux fur, mimicking the texture of racka sheepskin. Cropped boxy jackets in soft tech velvet, quilted with traditional Kopjafa symbols, add an element of cultural homage. Maxi A-line city coats and protective capes in black regenerated leather, bonded in shearling, exude a contemporary edge with a nod to sustainability.

Continuing her commitment to responsible production, Sándor explores sustainable fabrics and treatments. The label's trademark alt-leather, OKOBOR, is upcycled into an elastic seersucker smocked fabric, while faux sheep hide boasts a thick, compact texture and a smooth, soft finish.

Nanushka's Fall Winter 2024-2025 collection is a harmonious blend of nostalgia and modernity, reflecting Sándor's journey through memory lane while championing sustainability and responsible fashion practices. Each piece serves as a testament to the brand's ethos of timeless elegance with a conscience.
