The Rochas collection for Spring Summer 2024 exuded a vibrant sense of femininity and lightness, signaling a fresh direction for the brand following its parting with designer Charles de Vilmorin earlier in the year. A creative studio took the reins, infusing the collection with new colors, prints, and nods to Rochas' rich archives.
The departure of Charles de Vilmorin, known for his colorful yet dark-tinged paintings, paved the way for a rejuvenated spirit in the brand. The collection paid homage to Rochas' couture heritage with playful volumes and explored vintage fragrance flacons' laced textures.
The creative studio ventured into various concepts, showcasing a range of sculptural and feminine silhouettes in diverse fabrics, including cotton, poplin, and even denim. This approach emphasized that Rochas pieces could seamlessly integrate into a woman's everyday wardrobe. Standout pieces included fitted blazer jackets adorned with eccentric calla flower-shaped brooches and pencil skirts featuring graphic side pockets.
A standout theme revolved around marbles, which were transformed into prints adorning a striking yellow minidress and used as buttons and 3D appliqués on tailoring and party-ready attire, infusing the collection with a whimsical charm.
The eveningwear pieces stole the spotlight, featuring feather-like sequins embellishing tops and peeking from beneath organza skirts. Sensual column gowns, corset-inspired ensembles, and high-drama taffeta capes in black and pale jade added a touch of glamour to the collection.
Anchoring the entire lineup was a bold brushed gold buckle, pulled from the brand's archives and cleverly incorporated as a distinctive element, providing cohesion to the diverse looks. As Rochas embarks on this new chapter without revealing its new creative director, this bold emblem could serve as an auspicious starting point for the brand's future endeavors.
