Self-Portrait Pre-Fall 2023 Lookbook

Self-Portrait, the London-based fashion brand, has recently launched its Pre-Fall 2023 collection that is designed to transport you to a glamorous island location or a poolside retreat. According to the brand's founder and creative director, Han Chong, the Pre-Fall season is all about high summer and relaxation, and this is reflected in the designs of the collection.

The collection features a range of dresses that are made of fishnet and embroidered with beads and sequins, giving them a glamorous and luxurious feel. The dresses come with a slip dress lining but can also be worn over a bikini, making them a versatile addition to your summer wardrobe.

One standout piece from the collection is a long-sleeved gown in sky-blue sequin-embroidered mesh with a gathered cutout detail on the chest that is perfect for prom. Another notable design is a crystal-embellished lilac long-sleeved shirt and matching maxi skirt that brings to mind Gwyneth Paltrow's iconic green Donna Karan set from the Great Expectations movie.

The collection also includes a few styles that are embellished in crystals in a design that Chong describes as "contouring." These pieces feature darker shades around the waist and hips, creating a subtle and flattering effect on the body.

For those who are not beach-adjacent, the collection still offers options. Denim separates, such as a cropped bustier with crystal embellishments worn with a matching denim pencil skirt or lilac wide-leg cargo trousers worn alternatively with a sequin-embroidered mesh top or knit cardigan-jacket, offer sportier takes on the brand's signature wardrobe staples.
