Buluuy Mirrii is a Gomeroi-led fashion label founded by Colleen Tighe-Johnson that channels Gomeroi Dreaming Stories into luxury, one-off garments: commissioned Gomeroi artworks are transformed by a Gomeroi graphic designer into printed fabrics and presented with culturally informed soundtracks and voiceovers on international runways. Launched from Tamworth and Moree, the label has shown in Melbourne, New Zealand, Canada and New York Fashion Week (Spring and Fall 2017) and is slated for Cannes and Paris, while operating a social enterprise—the Buluuy Mirrii Youth Development Program—which mentors Aboriginal youth in cultural skills, life skills and fashion industry training, builds community pride, and has supported participants to national and international opportunities.
