Sofia Crociani continued her exploration of sustainability and artistry in haute couture, presenting a collection that embraced imperfection as a form of beauty. Through antique garments, delicate fabrics, and raw finishes, she challenged conventional notions of luxury, positioning her work at the intersection of fashion and art.
Central to the collection were two antique dresses from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, subtly altered to fit the modern form while preserving their handmade essence. Rather than restoring them to pristine condition, Crociani chose to leave visible wear, frayed edges, and delicate tears intact—a quiet meditation on fragility and the passage of time.
Flowing silk and wispy tulle defined the collection’s silhouettes, rendered in a monochrome palette with accents of velvet and delicate bows. Unfinished hems and raw details reinforced the idea of garments as living objects, evolving rather than adhering to rigid perfection. Men’s looks featured asymmetrically draped lace and feather accents, evoking historical dress with a contemporary softness.
Crociani’s vision extends beyond commerce; her work is as much about storytelling as it is about couture. The collection’s black-and-white contrasts recalled ink meeting paper—an intentional act of creation and balance. This artistic approach continues beyond the runway, with a featured piece in a collaborative exhibition at the Suzanne Tarasieve Gallery in Paris, on display until March 8.
