Staged high in the hills of Bel Air, the Hermès Resort 2027 runway show unfolded on June 4, 2026, before an illustrious front row that included Miley Cyrus, Kerry Washington, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Creative director Nadège Vanhée used the unique energy of Los Angeles—a city she describes as blending the charm of old Europe with the reinvention of the new world—to deliver a powerful and liberated collection. For this special presentation, an expansive, pale yellow runway set was constructed over the course of a month in an open lot overlooking the Hotel Bel Air, providing a dramatic, open-air backdrop that perfectly matched the thematic direction of the evening.
Titled “Silhouettes on the Horizon,” the collection marked a poetic and well-timed departure from the body-con, stretch-leather silhouettes of recent seasons. Instead, Vanhée explored a freer artistic expression that felt like a trial run for haute couture, expanding the runway narrative far beyond the house's traditional foundations of leather goods and silk scarves. The show moved gracefully between personal narratives, such as the designer's childhood fixation on ballet, and broader cultural histories tied to old and new Hollywood glamour.
The garments themselves beautifully captured this cinematic, free-spirited atmosphere. Among the definitive highlights of the evening were long, languid velvet dresses drawing inspiration from nineteen-thirties glamour, alongside vibrant satin cocktail dresses. The influence of ballet was explicitly visible in satin gowns featuring intricate gathers and piped seams designed to mimic the structural construction of pointe shoes. Similarly fabricated satin skirt suits showcased precise nips and tucks that struck a distinctly feminine, coquettish note.
Contrasting these delicate, dance-inspired pieces were highly extroverted, showgirl-adjacent statement looks. The collection introduced spangled knit onesies rendered in pale yellow and bright turquoise, complete with dramatic flared legs. This high-energy styling was further emphasized by tough biker jackets executed in intricately tooled and studded leather. As the presentation reached its peak, a Frédéric Sanchez remix of the classic track “Bette Davis Eyes” cued the finale, prompting Miley Cyrus to dance and sing along from the front row, encapsulating the triumphant, California-inspired spirit of potential and open horizons that defined the collection.
