Mark Gong's Spring Summer 2025 collection opened Shanghai Fashion Week, bringing the world of "Sex and the City" to the runway with a focus on the character Charlotte York. Despite visa issues that kept some from attending in person, the atmosphere was still palpable through livestreams and firsthand reports. The show took place in a setting reminiscent of Charlotte’s Park Avenue penthouse, famously featured in the series.

The collection marked the fourth and final chapter of Gong’s exploration of the iconic show’s characters. Known for youthful, playful styles, Gong took on the challenge of reimagining Charlotte, often considered the most traditional of the group. He sought to capture a deeper sense of her character by delving into her desires and aspirations, rather than portraying her as merely prim or demure.

Gong’s lineup featured refined versions of signature looks, referencing Charlotte’s classic style while infusing a more contemporary edge. There were polished knit sets, gingham and polka dot patterns on silk dresses, and floral appliqués adding dimension to tailored pieces. Sharp suiting and little black dresses highlighted the collection's maturity, while elements like graphic t-shirts layered under corsets, bralettes, and sporty touches balanced the elegance with a modern attitude.

The presentation illustrated a sophisticated evolution for the brand, blending Charlotte’s traditional style with fresh interpretations that spoke to a new audience. Through this collection, Gong suggested that Charlotte’s understated style might have been a hidden fashion influence all along, offering a more nuanced take on classic elegance.
