Robert Wun Fall Winter 2024-25 Haute Couture Fashion Show

Robert Wun celebrated a decade of his eponymous label with a hauntingly beautiful couture collection titled "Time." The show served as a meditation on the very nature of time, mortality, and the fleeting beauty of existence.

Wun used extravagant, one-of-a-kind pieces as his canvas to explore these profound questions. He started with the acceptance of impermanence as the fuel for creativity. This philosophy translated into garments that captured the essence of different seasons, each symbolizing a stage in life's journey.

The show opened with a majestic black gown adorned with a crystal-embroidered veil depicting "the first falling of snow," representing winter and a time for reflection. A white, shredded coat with butterfly appliqués followed, perhaps alluding to hope emerging from decay.

A black mermaid dress with a bodice embroidered in pink cherry blossoms symbolized spring. Wun explained the ephemeral nature of beauty through the cherry blossoms, drawing from Chinese philosophy. The collection also featured burnt hems on a vibrant yellow ensemble, signifying the inevitable erosion of time.

The final four looks were the most striking. They embodied a progressive stripping away, both physical and spiritual. A blood-red sheath covered in spiked bugle beads represented muscles, and a skintight black jumpsuit with a dangling half-skeleton mannequin embodied bones.

The collection culminated in a vision of a flowing veiled gown, shimmering with multicolored crystals. This final piece symbolized the soul's return to the universe, offering a touch of solace and beauty amidst the exploration of mortality.
