On September 4, 2025, Tsumori Chisato marked a significant milestone, presenting the Spring Summer 2026 collection at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo to celebrate the brand’s 35th anniversary. The runway show, titled “35th Anniversary TSUMORI CHISATO Gratitude,” was the designer’s first in over seven years, following her last presentation at Paris Fashion Week in March 2018.

The venue, TC HOUSE in Tokyo’s Shibuya district, doubled as both the brand’s atelier and flagship store. The space embodied Chisato’s whimsical aesthetic, featuring white walls and natural wood flooring accented with bursts of color—blues, pinks, and yellows—alongside large marguerite flower motifs, creating a joyful and inviting atmosphere for the show.

The SS26 collection showcased 37 looks, each brimming with Tsumori Chisato’s signature playful and colorful style. Drawing inspiration from motifs dear to the designer—flowers, fish, the earth, and rainbows—the collection was a heartfelt expression of gratitude for 35 years of creativity. Intricate techniques such as embroidery, knit patterns, and hand-drawn illustration prints brought the designs to life, reflecting the brand’s dedication to craftsmanship and individuality.

Speaking after the show, Tsumori Chisato shared her emotions with a warm smile, occasionally tearing up during interactions with the press. “For this show, I wanted to express myself like a child, gathering all the things I love to convey my gratitude through clothing,” she said. “I packed in so many feelings, and I’d be truly happy if everyone finds it fun to look at.”

Reflecting on her journey, Tsumori recalled advice from the late Issey Miyake, who encouraged her to draw. “He told me, ‘You should draw,’ and so I did. That led to creating collections, and by continuing to draw, I’ve been able to keep going all these years,” she said. “I love making clothes and fabrics, and I want to keep creating, playing, and enjoying the process in a relaxed way. Thanks to everyone’s support, I’ve been able to make clothes joyfully for 35 years, and I’m deeply grateful.”

The show was a testament to Tsumori Chisato’s enduring vision, blending nostalgia with forward-looking optimism.
