Norma Kamali’s Spring Summer 2025 collection shines a light on optimism and versatility, blending her signature styles with a refreshing dose of retro flair. The collection, rooted in multipurpose designs, brings a sense of playfulness and practicality to modern wardrobes, all while revisiting Kamali's favorite era: the ’70s.

A standout theme throughout the collection was the bright and joyful color palette. Shades like asparagus yellow, baby pink, cappuccino brown, and soft green dominated the runway, lending a vibrant energy to Kamali’s tailored pieces and occasion wear. Floral motifs, from 3D mesh rosebuds to painterly prints, further enhanced the collection’s cheerful vibe, adding a romantic twist to her designs.

Kamali, known for her flattering and functional pieces, introduced several new designs that fit seamlessly into her brand's ethos. These included bias-cut slip dresses that transitioned into crop tops and skirts, alongside her iconic puffy shawl jackets. The collection also featured cool, vegan leather jackets and airy mesh pieces like catsuits and terry tracksuits with side slits, offering a playful yet practical twist.

A strong ’70s influence ran through the collection, with drapey, deep V-neck bodysuits, sequin jumpsuits, and crochet separates. Kamali explained her inspiration, noting that much of American fashion in the ’70s continues to resonate today. This was highlighted by the revival of her original pleated, balloon-legged jumpsuit, famously worn by Bianca Jagger and still in demand by customers.

However, Kamali’s most significant message for the season was the return of her ’70s Convertible — a multi-use garment that can be styled in countless ways. Available in various lengths and priced at an affordable $100, the Convertible can be wrapped into dresses, skirts, or tops, providing endless styling possibilities. Kamali reflected on its legacy, sharing a personal story of how her cousin’s bridesmaids wore the piece at a wedding in the ’70s, each styling it uniquely.

Kamali also embraced innovation outside of her vibrant designs. She showcased a semi-sheer black-striped dress, recently worn by Jessica Biel, and unveiled new iterations with fewer stripes and more skin, designed with the help of AI. Kamali expressed her excitement about the potential of AI in fashion, seeing it as a creative tool rather than a threat. She hinted that AI will likely play a role in developing exclusive designs for retailers, further cementing her brand’s forward-thinking approach.

With a blend of nostalgic elements, modern versatility, and innovation, Norma Kamali’s Spring-Summer 2025 collection serves as both a celebration of the past and a leap into the future of fashion.
