Purdey, the luxury British countryside sporting equipment and clothing brand, is expanding its fashion offerings under the new creative director Simon Holloway. Purdey, which sells at Harrods, Net-a-porter and Mr Porter, has traditionally focused on guns, rifles, and accessories suited to country rather than city life. Holloway, who has held top jobs at brands including Agnona, Hogan, Jimmy Choo, and Ralph Lauren, has been tasked with transforming Purdey’s apparel offer into a complete luxury lifestyle brand for men and women.
For the Fall Winter 2023-2024 collection, Holloway aimed to blur the lines between city and countryside. The collection features a modern wardrobe that easily trots between the two worlds with a rich palette of earth tones and nothing that screams "Downton Abbey." Pieces include a double-face, belted cashmere cape, luscious camel coats, and checks galore on sleek trenches or hacking jackets. Knits made in Scotland, Wales, and Italy were classic yet light and easy. A standout knit of the season recalls a youthful Princess Diana, with its little ruffle collar and bits of Nottingham lace around the front and shoulders.
The Black Watch tartan stepped into the spotlight for evening in the form of a double-breasted jacket with leather details on the pocket, a cape coat, and long, fringed scarves made for long winter nights under starry British skies. Jackets were worn with knitted ties, slim rollnecks, or V-neck cardigans.
The Purdey Fall Winter 2023-2024 collection offers luxe and chic options for a hunting, shooting, or fishing weekend in the British countryside, while also being suitable for city life. The collection is a testament to Holloway's soft touch, luxury fabric and leather expertise, and ability to design across ready-to-wear, footwear, and accessories.
