The Spring Summer 2024 collection, meticulously crafted by the visionary duo of Kate and Laura Mulleavy, is a striking manifestation of their resolute dedication to pushing the frontiers of artistic innovation. Drawing inspiration from the enchanting world of flowers and the profound metaphor of personal growth and blossoming, the Mulleavy sisters have expertly woven a narrative of flourishing gardens and transformative journeys into their latest sartorial masterpiece.

The collection opens with a breathtaking gown that encapsulates the essence of Rodarte. Its bodice, a complex interplay of purple and black lace, adorned with delicate beaded embroidery at the bust, sets the tone for what follows. The voluminous skirt, composed of gradient shades of purple organza, and a matching capelet with ruffled organza layers, make a bold statement. These garments proclaim that this is a collection meant for those who embrace fashion as a form of self-expression, unapologetically bold and unique.

A distinguishing feature of this collection is its emphasis on narrow and elongated silhouettes. Silk bias-cut slip dresses, reminiscent of the 1930s, grace the runway, occasionally sporting dainty sleeves. However, it's the vibrant color palette that truly brings these dresses to life. Shades like iris, peony yellow, emerald green, cornflower, and ultramarine are accented with black lace appliqués and velvet bows, resulting in a visual feast that feels decidedly contemporary.

One of the collection's standout moments arrives with a trio of dresses featuring exquisite all-over beaded fabric. A ballet pink column dress, boasting a delicate peplum and halter neckline, radiates grace and sophistication. An emerald green short-sleeved number, complete with a ruffled hem and a sculptural neckline that extends past the shoulders, commands attention. Meanwhile, a column gown in a captivating shade of orchid purple, with tiered ruffles shaped by horsehair, adds a touch of sparkle and complexity. Notably, each of these creations showcases the Mulleavy sisters' dedication to craftsmanship, with every detail meticulously handcrafted.

However, the true stars of the show are the ruffle dresses that pay homage to Rodarte's inaugural collection in 2006. Vertical ruffles, meticulously crafted from an array of silk fabrics—organza, chiffon, charmeuse, and georgette—adorn these garments, adorned with intricate fabric rosettes. A shorter version in lilac hues exudes youthful charm, while a long-sleeved iteration in blue and white commands attention with its dramatic flair. A sleeveless masterpiece artfully combining red, yellow, green, purple, black, and turquoise showcases the designers' innate understanding of color. As Kate Mulleavy aptly noted, "A lot of people are interested in silhouette first; but I feel like we’re a hundred percent interested in color and texture first, and then it’s about building out the silhouettes."
