The brand's Creative Director, Jingwei Yin, defines Oude Waag as akin to "keeping a diary," representing an ever-evolving chronicle of human experiences, punctuated by subtle, abstract moments of emotion and intimacy. The Oude Waag aesthetic is distinguished by its intellectual and empathetic approach to the interplay between the mind, clothing, and the body. Yin's personal affinity for understated and often overlooked sources of beauty is elevated through his precision in cutting, fluid draping, textile innovation, and an exceptionally keen eye for details. Jingwei Yin, born in Chengdu, China, received his fashion education in London, culminating in the completion of his Bachelor's degree at Central Saint Martins College and his Master's degree at the Royal College of Art. Before establishing Oude Waag, he gained valuable experience working with prestigious fashion houses such as Haider Ackermann and Hussein Chalayan.
