Dior Homme Spring Summer 2025 Fashion Show

Kim Jones' latest collection for Dior Homme wasn't about sportswear or Olympic-inspired vibes. Instead, the runway show became a celebration of South African artist Hylton Nel's work.

The set itself was a spectacle, featuring giant sculptures inspired by Nel's iconic cat creations. One, a human-feline hybrid, mirrored ancient Egyptian deities and was even held by the show's opening model.

Nel's influence was evident throughout the clothing. A black suit featured bird motifs in silver studs, echoing Nel's style. Playful patterns and slogans adorned knitwear, while a blue-and-white embroidered jacket took nearly 2,000 hours to craft, replicating the texture of Nel's ceramics.

Accessories were equally playful. Ceramic scarf-like sculptures adorned necks, while Stephen Jones designed cloche hats hand-crocheted by South African artisans. Even miniature Saddle bags came complete with adorable cat pendants.

Nel himself was enthusiastic about the collaboration. "It's wonderful to see what he [Jones] has done," he said backstage.

Jones, who grew up in Africa, wasn't just celebrating Nel's art. The loose silhouettes, explorer jackets, and clog-inspired shoes evoked a sense of the South African landscape, the veldt.

The collection wasn't devoid of Dior's signature touch. Draped pants and an asymmetrical cape coat echoed a 1952 design by Christian Dior himself.

This focus on craft reflects Jones' love for collecting historical pieces. While some designers chase trends, Jones blends showmanship with a genuine passion for discovery, creating collections that resonate with collectors and fashion connoisseurs alike.

As Jones himself noted, "Keeping the customer excited is the most important thing." With this collection, he's done just that, while introducing the world to the artistry of Hylton Nel.
