Givenchy Fall Winter 2024-2025 collection fashion show at Paris Fashion Week FW24 (February 29, 2024).

Givenchy's Fall Winter 2024-2025 collection paid homage to the brand's legacy of timeless elegance and Hollywood glamour, evoking the spirit of founder Hubert de Givenchy while infusing modern touches for the 21st century. In a transitional season following the departure of creative director Matthew M. Williams, Givenchy presented a collection that celebrated the brand's couture heritage and red carpet allure.

Against the backdrop of the historic salons on Avenue George V, Givenchy showcased a range of cocktail and evening outfits reminiscent of the golden age of haute couture. Swing coats, draped pencil skirts, and little black dresses echoed the classic sophistication of Audrey Hepburn, offering a contemporary interpretation of timeless silhouettes.

While paying homage to the past, Givenchy also embraced modernity with graphic necklines and hemlines that ended above the knee, lending a youthful and dynamic edge to the collection. The '80s undercurrent was evident in chubby furs and suit jackets with ramrod-straight shoulders, adding a touch of retro chic to the overall aesthetic.

Tailoring emerged as a highlight, with long coats in herringbone wool and navy jacquard showcasing the brand's impeccable craftsmanship and attention to detail. The couture atelier pulled out all the stops with crystallized bustier dresses, feather-adorned coats, and draped column dresses that exemplified deceptive simplicity and refined elegance.

Despite the mastery evident in each look, the collection lacked a certain spark, reflecting the absence of a strong creative lead following Williams' departure. While the brand continues to excel in craftsmanship and design, there was a sense that it was missing the visionary direction needed to truly ignite the runway.
